Dawn in the French Quarter, maybe 200 years ago, maybe today. Even deserted, the streets still pulse with the life unfolding behind closed doors. Those doors—whether humble streetside entrances or grand portes cochères—mark personal sanctuaries, islands of intimacy. A solitary wanderer might wonder: Who is inside? What are they like? Many French Quarter residents leave clues, like the pairs of orangerie planters flanking neighborhood entryways. Built to last yet offering the formal beauty of fruits and flowers, these planters offer a timeless greeting: True hospitality knows no strangers.

We make our orangerie planters by hand in New Orleans, to honor our city’s tradition of generous living. Local metalsmiths use 16 gauge steel and cast iron, using centuries’ old French techniques. We top each planter corner with a pinecone finial, an ancient symbol of openheartedness. Each planter is raised to allow drainage through drilled holes on bottom plate. Specially crafted finishes offer durable protection while retaining a unique patina. Each pair of planters is one of a kind, all are heirloom pieces to be enjoyed by generations of friends and family. This planter can be customized in size as well as color from the Benjamin Moore Color Chart. Allow 4 weeks for production for custom orders. And passersby who remain at a distance? They too receive a fleeting but heartfelt welcome.
